How Learnt works

Learnt turns a long-form YouTube video into a course: a module outline you approve, recall-first questions, a confidence-sorted review queue, and a notes margin of your own. This page covers every control in the product.

From link to course

Paste a link / Quote it: Paste any YouTube URL on the home page. The price is calculated from the video's length alone — you see it before paying, and nothing runs until you do. Videos need captions and must be under 8 hours.
Review your outline: After checkout we draft the course's table of contents and stop. Rename any module inline, merge two neighbors, or split one that covers too much. Regenerate outline reopens the intake questions — module length, course style, and your skip/assumed-known notes, prefilled from what you chose — so you can change them before it redraws the outline from scratch; one regeneration is included. Approve & generate starts the full build; if we don't hear from you, the outline approves itself after 72 hours (we remind you at 24). You'll get an email when the course is on your shelf, usually within minutes.

Your shelf (the dashboard)

Course cards: Each card shows where a course stands: In progress (with your module count), Outline ready (waiting on your review), Generating (we're writing it), Locked (access lapsed — everything is kept exactly as you left it; Reactivate restores it instantly), or Refunded (a purchase was refunded, so access was removed).
Repurchasing a refunded course: A refunded course is never deleted — notes, progress, and review queue are all still there. Its card offers Unlock for 1 credit if you have a course credit on hand, or Buy again at the course's original price if you don't. A subscription doesn't bring a refunded course back on its own — a refund undoes the purchase, so only a fresh one (credit or payment) restores it. If a course was refunded before it finished generating, there's nothing saved to unlock, so its card just reads Refunded with no button.
Review banner: When a course has concepts queued for review, the banner shows the total and names the course with the most of them. Start review opens that course's review page.
+ New course: Starts a new quote — same flow as the home page.
Credit line: Under your email, a small line shows your course-credit balance (e.g. 3 credits), with your plan name in front of it if you're on a Creator plan (e.g. Creator · 3 credits). Spend a credit instead of paying at checkout to start a new course.

The course player

Module buttons: The row under the video lists every module. A check means complete, the filled button is where you are, and the dashed one is the suggested next. Clicking a module also seeks the video to its start. Nothing is ever locked — the order is a suggestion.
Start module segment / timestamps: Every module and every question carries timestamps. Clicking one seeks the embedded player to that moment. The video pauses itself at the end of the current module's segment.
Free recall: Each module opens with recall prompts: write what you remember first, then Reveal model answer and grade yourself honestly — Got it or Missed.
Questions & confidence: Multiple choice comes second, as the backstop. Pick an answer and a confidence — Low, Medium, or High — before the result shows; both lock in together. Every wrong option's explanation tells you why it was tempting.
Review · N: The masthead link opens the review page and shows how many concepts are queued there. Get a question wrong and it comes back on the review page as two fresh variants on the same idea — get one right and it's cleared; miss both and it's pinned under “Confidently wrong” until you retry or clear it. Retry Questions wipes both attempts, so the progress ring counts those two as unanswered again until you retake them — that's expected, not lost progress. Concepts you missed with higher confidence are queued first — they're the ones worth re-watching.
Lamp on / Lamp off: The theme toggle. Dark mode is a reading lamp, not an inversion.

The margin (notes)

Writing: One note per module, in Markdown. The toolbar buttons wrap the selection — bold, italic, heading, bullet and numbered lists, code, link. Lists continue themselves; Tab and Shift+Tab indent and outdent. The clock button stamps the player's current timestamp into your note. Preview toggles the rendered view. Paste or drop images straight in.
Saving: There is no save button — notes save automatically as you type (watch the saved indicator). They sync to your account, so they follow you across devices.
Export: Downloads all your notes for the course, in order: as Markdown or as a Word document. Exporting straight to Google Docs is coming — the option appears once you connect Google Drive.
Pop out: Floats the notes panel so you can drag and resize it anywhere — useful while the video runs full-width. The corner grip on the text box resizes it in place.

Access & billing

What a purchase includes: Each course is priced by its video's length and includes 30 days of access.
Keeping your shelf: After the included 30 days, the $4/month plan keeps every course, note, and review queue available. If it lapses, courses lock but are never deleted — reactivating restores everything, instantly. If a renewal payment fails you keep access for 7 days while you fix it.
Creator plans: $12/month includes 2 course credits each month (use them or lose them); $20/month includes 3, and unused credits roll over up to a bank of 6. Both include shelf access.
